Job Search

Well the job search is still on its way. I haven't heard any news about this IMAX layoff for a while now which makes me think that a) they are still trying to work it out b) they are still planning on laying off someone but being slow at it or c) they have given up and have decided to leave us alone.
I really wish that they would just come out and let us know what the deal is but I guess when you are a big cheese you can decide to do whatever you want, whenever you feel like it.

Well the good news about that is that it forced me to look for some potential job options. A lady from contacted me and was super stoked about my Clothing and Textiles degree (it's not often that I hear good things about it). I had an interview today and the lady made it sound like I would be a good fit for two different positions. I'm going to be doing a working interview next thursday where I will get to try out both positions to see what I think.

The bad thing is that the days start at 8:30am (not my usual 9am) and that I have to take 2 buses to get there (over an hour on the bus). Yikes. Hopefully they will pay me enough so that I can afford a car.

So I guess we wait to see how thursday turns out.

Wow so behind in the updates

Well a lot has happened in the last little while. I have probably forgotten most of it by now but here goes:

-IMAX was closed for nearly a month for a full renovation. The theatre now has some personality including brand new kick ass seating.





-We went to Minneapolis last weekend. We saw Ryan Adams, shopped till we dropped and packed our car with IKEA. It was a pretty good trip.

-We have been renovating the house a little and we decided to rip up the carpet and underneath we found some pretty nice looking hardwood floors and some not so nice looking hardwood floors. We got this stuff that is a cross between laminate flooring and sticky tiles (that really looks like wood) and we've put it in the hallway and in the back room. We are going to eventually do the flooring in Matts room, the kitchen and the bathroom. It looks pretty good.



-Halloween Party! Sat Oct 20th, our place (725 Walker ave, South Osborne). Wear a costume and be prepared for an awesome time. Starts 9ish but come earlier if you dare... Bwa ha ha!

-Next weekend the parents are coming here for the weekend. Pretty stoked! Matt is going to cook thanksgiving dinner (week late but who's counting). It should be a pretty good weekend.

-Job news- I guess I saved the drama for last. We just spend a boat load of money on new renovations at work (they look so nice) and apparently we aren't pulling in as much money as we should be. So to make up for this some of the higher ups from the Forks (they own IMAX) want to eliminate some people from our office. Well this probably wouldn't be such a big deal but our office only has 4 people and they want to eliminate 1 or 2 of us. Everyone's departments are doing really well and we are all pretty busy (at least I always am). The only department that isnt doing well is walk up and the people responsible for that work at the other office so they dont have to worry about losing their jobs.
The thing that is the most troubling is that none of us are supposed to know about this whole thing. Well Winnipeg is a small place and someone who used to work at IMAX was interrogated to tell them which one of us is the most expendable. Well it got back to us and people were obviously pretty upset. Well Chad and Darryl tried scheduling a meeting with the forks people to discuss possible options and they got denied. So I guess it is only a matter of time before we find out what's going to happen. It's really sad because someone (or more people) might lose their job and the people (or person) left behind will have to do even more work and probably at a similar pay (or they might get fired too).
Its so sad because I'm doing really well at my job and my numbers are going up. Oh well, I just want to find out sooner than later cause I dont like this suspense crap. So I've started sending out my resume, let me know if you know of an interesting job opportunity that I might like.
