Being a Manitoban Part 2

Well the hours of operation for the Driver's testing places are all really inconvenient and their locations just as inconvenient. So Matt drove me to the testing place at 7:30am on friday morning. I got up to the counter and the lady is trying to process my information when she asks me where I bought the receipt for my written test. I told her and she proceeds to tell me that she cannot process my information because the other place should have taken my photo and had me sign something. Well I'm about ready to cry. But then she saw my Ontario permit and because it has my photo and signature on it, she could take my photo there. Sweet! Well I can finally go write this stupid test and I tell you this the test is not easy. I watched the kid before me fail. You are only allowed to get 6 wrong and I got 6 wrong on the first page. Eek, I thought I was doomed but it turns out that I really know my road signs. After all that hassle, I now have my Manitoba learners. Now on to the road test. Dun dun dun.

Trying to be a Manitoban (not as easy as you'd think)

Well I've had my Ontario ID for way too long and I figure it is about time that I take my drivers test and have a real license. Well on Friday I decided to take a walk to the walkway to see if I have the necessary documentation to switch over.

Trip #1-Well the guy there seemed pretty confused that Ontario was part of Canada so that should have been my first hint to get the hell out of there. I didnt have enough documentation with my address on it so he told me that I could print it off of my online banking. Then I would have enough documentation.

Trip #2So I went to my office and printed it off and came back. The guy was busy so I was talking to girl #1. She was like what is this? You need to go to the bank and they will print off an official form and stamp it. I was like "That would have been nice to know before I left". The guy over hears this and tries to give me directions to my bank. So then she tells me that the sheet is all I need and she will be able to complete the paperwork. So I left and waited in line to get the same piece of paper I printed off except that it had a bank stamp on it.

Trip #3I came back and there was a different girl (girl #2) but she was busy so I went and spoke with the guy again. He took 20 min to photocopy 2 things. Then typed two things on his computer, then looked at me and said " Yeah I dont know how to do this". and stuffed all of my various cards and photocopies into my hands and told me to talk to the girl next to him.

Well girl #2 had someone on her side so I had to wait until she was done. Then I plunk all of my stuff down and explain that this is the 3rd time I was there that day and that the guy next to me does not have a clue. Well she sorts through all of my stuff and was like "all I need now is a birth certificate or passport". I dont have a passport and my birth certificate is in Ontario. She says sorry but I cannot process this until you have the necessary paperwork. Trying not to flip out, I asked her for sure if once I had my birth certificate then I would be switched over. She said for sure that is all you need to do.

Trip #4- My mom couriered over the necessary documentation so I decided that today must be my day and that I will finally have all of this nastiness behind me. Boy was I wrong.
Girl #3 was super nice and she actually called to make sure she knew what she was doing (where was she on friday?). The only thing was she found out that I have to rewrite the drivers test. Too bad this is the most inconvienent system and there are only 3 locations and none of them are anywhere near me. Not only that but their hours of operation are mon-fri 7:30am-4:30pm. Obviously I do not have a license if I'm going to write this test, so why do I have to go way out to the middle of nowhere and take time off work to go.

Also before I did any of this I emailed the people at the Manitoba License place and some lady left me a message saying that it would take seconds to switch over and that I wouldnt have to write any tests. Lier. I dont know how anyone has their license here.

Well wish me good luck! Cause I'm going to write the test tomorrow.

Another update

Here's some more stuff that's been happening:

Me and Matt got Mario Party 8 for the Wii. Super addicting.

Jean Michel Cousteau came to IMAX. He is so fascinating and down to earth. He has a pretty good sense of humour too. He signed my Sponge Bob Calendar.

Me and Marsha made a lady bug cake for Lisa. We used unheard of amounts of food colouring but it turned out really well.

Lisa's birthday on Friday night was really fun. We started off at Joey's restaurant and had the stupidest waitress ever. Instead of pouring beer in our glasses she poured it directly on my leg. Oh well I'm sure they didn't hire her for her brains or waitressing abilities. Then we drank at Lisa's and then we went to the Empire. I guess Friday isn't their night but it was still pretty fun.

Me and Matt went to a huge greenhouse and got some perennials for the front flower beds. We picked out some super colourful plants so I hope they turn out.
