Trying to be a Manitoban (not as easy as you'd think)

Well I've had my Ontario ID for way too long and I figure it is about time that I take my drivers test and have a real license. Well on Friday I decided to take a walk to the walkway to see if I have the necessary documentation to switch over.

Trip #1-Well the guy there seemed pretty confused that Ontario was part of Canada so that should have been my first hint to get the hell out of there. I didnt have enough documentation with my address on it so he told me that I could print it off of my online banking. Then I would have enough documentation.

Trip #2So I went to my office and printed it off and came back. The guy was busy so I was talking to girl #1. She was like what is this? You need to go to the bank and they will print off an official form and stamp it. I was like "That would have been nice to know before I left". The guy over hears this and tries to give me directions to my bank. So then she tells me that the sheet is all I need and she will be able to complete the paperwork. So I left and waited in line to get the same piece of paper I printed off except that it had a bank stamp on it.

Trip #3I came back and there was a different girl (girl #2) but she was busy so I went and spoke with the guy again. He took 20 min to photocopy 2 things. Then typed two things on his computer, then looked at me and said " Yeah I dont know how to do this". and stuffed all of my various cards and photocopies into my hands and told me to talk to the girl next to him.

Well girl #2 had someone on her side so I had to wait until she was done. Then I plunk all of my stuff down and explain that this is the 3rd time I was there that day and that the guy next to me does not have a clue. Well she sorts through all of my stuff and was like "all I need now is a birth certificate or passport". I dont have a passport and my birth certificate is in Ontario. She says sorry but I cannot process this until you have the necessary paperwork. Trying not to flip out, I asked her for sure if once I had my birth certificate then I would be switched over. She said for sure that is all you need to do.

Trip #4- My mom couriered over the necessary documentation so I decided that today must be my day and that I will finally have all of this nastiness behind me. Boy was I wrong.
Girl #3 was super nice and she actually called to make sure she knew what she was doing (where was she on friday?). The only thing was she found out that I have to rewrite the drivers test. Too bad this is the most inconvienent system and there are only 3 locations and none of them are anywhere near me. Not only that but their hours of operation are mon-fri 7:30am-4:30pm. Obviously I do not have a license if I'm going to write this test, so why do I have to go way out to the middle of nowhere and take time off work to go.

Also before I did any of this I emailed the people at the Manitoba License place and some lady left me a message saying that it would take seconds to switch over and that I wouldnt have to write any tests. Lier. I dont know how anyone has their license here.

Well wish me good luck! Cause I'm going to write the test tomorrow.

Holy smokes...what an ordeal!!! I'm pretty sure I would have lost it on those idiots that work there. Question..if that guy works there, how in the hell did he not know what to do to process your request?? Isn't that his job?!?! I sure hope it all ended up working out for you. Let me know how it turns out!
Love and miss ya,
Carly
